Things I Learned During My First Year of Blogging

It’s hard to believe I’ve been blogging for a whole year!!  This time last year I was depressed and my life was going absolutely nowhere.. so I took the plunge and started my very own little blog!  It’s truly one of the best things I’ve ever done!

Since starting my own blog I’ve gained 500 subscribers, started an Instagram account, twitter account, Facebook account and even a Youtube channel!!!  All together I’ve gained just over a 1000 followers/subscribers and I’m extremely grateful!!  When I started blogging I didn’t think anyone would be interested in what I wrote.. turns out I’ve gained quite a loyal little fan base!!  Thank you all! I’ve learned quite a few things during my first year of blogging.. these are just a few of them..

Some People Won’t Like your Posts/Pictures Just Because It’s You..

Jealousy’s a bitch.  Some people you may know just simply won’t like your posts and pictures.. just because it’s you.  They might not like the fact that you’ve got a nice little blog going…whatever the reason, they’re still following you, ha!

Other bloggers can be the nicest most supportive people!

One thing i definitely know is that other bloggers can be so nice!  They will always like your posts and pictures and sometimes comment the loveliest things!  GIRL POWER!

It’s a long process and you won’t make any money in that 1 year

I never started blogging to make money.. in fact, I never knew so much money could be made from blogging/vlogging!  But one thing I definitely know is, the first year of blogging is for growing, getting to know people and getting comfortable with the whole blogging thing.  If you’re starting a blog just to make money.. don’t bother!

I would like to grow and take my blog further!

This time last year I had no goals.. I literally didn’t see my life going anywhere.  Over the year, I’ve returned to college to study business and will be doing one more year.  I would love to start my own business (keeping it a secret for now!!) and bring my blog into it!

Quality not quantity

Being in college and working nights, it’s pretty hard to find time to blog.  I know that consistency is one of the most important things when blogging, but it can be pretty hard when you’re so busy and tired!  I would much rather post once a month with a good post than every week with pointless posts!

Don’t compare yourself to other bloggers

You are not Zoella and never will be.  soz.

Over the year I’ve wanted to give up and shut my blog down so many times.  But thanks to Luke my boyfriend.. I haven’t.  He has seen such a difference in me since starting this blog and would never want to see me giving up after my hard work!  Thanks Lukey!!!

It’s hard work but totally worth it

Even if i only get one reader, I’m happy!

It has helped me through some dark times

Like I said, this time last year i was battling depression after the hardest year of my life.  This little blog has kept my mind busy and helped me through such a dark time.  Thank you blog!!

I absolutely love my little blog!

I wouldn’t change my little blog for the world!  I absolutely love the blogging community!

For all of those who have supported me throughout the year, THANK YOU!  You’ve motivate me to blog and made me want to take it further!

Being a new blogger myself, I’ve found the other bloggers to be exactly what you’ve described. Helpful and supportive.
